As an academic, you were probably a late adapter to things like Instagram, possibly Twitter.
Speaker 1:You're probably not using LinkedIn as effectively as you should.
Speaker 1:You're probably not using any of these apps as effectively as you should and because of that, you missed the short window in these apps history in which you could have built the foundation of a really big following early on.
Speaker 1:I don't want my work to be stuck behind an academic paywall. I want to leave a legacy, I want to reach my potential and I want to change lives. This podcast, power your Research, is my attempt to help the smartest people in the world do that very thing. Speaker 1:Today, I'm excited to talk to you about this new app called Threads. Now, if you are not on it, I highly suggest that you get on it and I'll explain what it is and then why I think you should use it, and particularly for my academics my audience, in which I teach branding to you need to get on threads right now and you need to start posting. This is super, super, super important. So first is super, super, super important. So first, what is Threads? So, reportedly, threads saw 95 million posts and 70 million signups one day after its launch, and so when you sign up to Threads, you'll see the number you are in terms of when you signed up. So I'm like the two millionth person to sign up to threads, and a lot of my academic friends are familiar with Twitter. You are more comfortable using Twitter because you're a writer, you're an intellectual and it's an easy way for you to communicate your thoughts. A lot of academics do not like showing up and doing videos like this and having to do all of the content creation. You're more comfortable over on Twitter and that's actually a good thing for you, because threads will remind you of Twitter, because you can upload videos and actually the video quality on threads is amazing. You can upload pictures and all of that, but you can start out on threads just posting texts. So the same thing that you're posting on Twitter, go ahead and post it on threads. Threads is Instagram's new app and I am seeing fast growth over on threads. I'm not seeing as much engagement, but I am seeing fast growth over on threads. I'm not seeing as much engagement, but I am seeing my number of followers increase at a pretty steady pace, day by day.

Speaker 1:The reason why this is so exciting for you academics, who might be ages 30 and up, 30s, 40s, 50s, even 60s age range, is because you likely missed the boat with the other app. As an academic, you were probably a late adapter to things like Instagram, possibly Twitter. You're probably not using LinkedIn as effectively as you should. You're probably not using any of these apps as effectively as you should and because of that, you miss the short window in these apps history in which you could have built the foundation of a really big following early on. So this is good news for you, because now you have a completely new app where you get to start over and possibly have thousands and millions of followers. If you get in now and start taking it seriously and posting and you know I'll go in as the months go on around what I'm learning on the app, what's working for me, what's not working I'll definitely be sharing more in detail with my Power, your Research community, those in the Power, your Research program, some of the more detailed information around the app.
Speaker 1:But for right now, please. You're going to regret it in two or three years if you did not get on this app and start working it because you're going to miss the window.
